Bridge Engineer
Job Summary:
The Bridge Engineer will be responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of bridge structures. They will oversee all stages of bridge projects, from initial assessment and planning to final execution and inspection, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing comprehensive bridge designs and plans, considering factors such as structural integrity, material specifications, and environmental impact.
- Conducting site surveys and feasibility studies to assess the condition of existing bridges and determine the need for repairs or replacements.
- Coordinating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless project execution, including collaboration with architects, surveyors, and construction contractors.
- Performing structural analysis and calculations using relevant software and engineering principles to guarantee the stability and safety of bridge structures.
- Creating detailed project reports, including cost estimates, material specifications, and construction timelines.
- Monitoring construction progress and providing technical guidance to construction teams, addressing any issues that may arise during the implementation phase.
- Conduct regular inspections and evaluations of completed bridge projects to verify compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in bridge engineering and construction methodologies to integrate innovative solutions into project designs.
- Collaborate with government agencies and regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to legal requirements and obtain necessary permits for bridge construction and maintenance.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 7+ years experience in engineering, civil, and infrastructure works and designs. (Proven experience in bridge engineering, design, and construction is an added advantage).
- COREN Engineering license is highly desirable.
- Strong proficiency in structural analysis software, CAD tools, MIDAS Civil, BIM 360 Autodesk, Primavera, or related project management applications.
- Strong working knowledge of relevant construction/engineering laws, codes, regulations, and documentation requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively across different levels as well as to effectively and professionally express ideas to both engineering and non-engineering audiences.
- In-depth knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards related to bridge construction.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills and ability to apply technical knowledge.
- Ability to learn new techniques, follow established procedures, and work independently or with little supervision.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work with tight or varying schedules and deliver within timelines.
- Ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules.
- Willingness to travel or relocate in response to project needs.
