Database Administrator (Oracle, MongoDB, and Cassandra)
Key Responsibilities
Oracle Database Administration:
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Oracle 10g/11g/12c in both single and clustered environments.
- Manage Replication, Log Shipping, Clustering, and Real Application Clusters (RAC).
- Execute backup and recovery procedures using RMAN.
- Perform database instance creation and maintenance, including performance tuning.
- Monitor and optimize database performance by analyzing CPU, memory, network, and disk resource usage.
- Implement Oracle security best practices and access control policies.
- Conduct database upgrades, patches, and migrations to newer versions.
MongoDB & Cassandra Database Administration:
- Install, configure, and manage MongoDB and Cassandra in high-availability environments.
- Implement and manage replication, sharding, and clustering strategies for performance optimization.
- Design, monitor, and optimize NoSQL schema models for scalability.
- Ensure database backup and recovery strategies are in place using MongoDB Ops Manager and Cassandra snapshot mechanisms.
- Fine-tune query performance, indexing, and memory management.
- Monitor system health and perform troubleshooting to ensure database availability.
- Develop disaster recovery plans and conduct periodic failover tests.
General DBA Responsibilities:
- Define and implement backup and retention policies for complete, differential, and transactional backups.
- Conduct regular backup and restoration drills to verify data integrity.
- Drive initiatives to improve SLAs through proactive analysis and response management.
- Manage all P1/P2 incidents, change requests, and liaise with OEM/vendors for issue resolution.
- Oversee license management, version upgrades, and technology refresh initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in Oracle, MongoDB, and Cassandra database administration.
- Expertise in Oracle database administration, performance tuning, and backup and recovery techniques.
- Proficiency in MongoDB and Cassandra architecture, security, and performance optimization.
- Strong understanding of SQL, PL/SQL, and NoSQL query languages.
- Experience with database upgrades, patching, and migrations.
- Knowledge of cloud-based database solutions (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is an advantage.
- Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) and MongoDB Certified DBA are a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
