Development Officer

Job Summary:

  • The Development Officer will engage in activities related to fundraising and development strategies, including writing proposals and grant applications.
  • They will be responsible for researching grant opportunities, preparing and submitting grant proposals, and managing relationships with funding organizations.
  • The Development Officer will work closely with the project teams to develop compelling proposals that align with our organization’s mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research to identify potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other sources.
  • Collaborate with the program team to understand project requirements and develop targeted grant proposals.
  • Write clear, persuasive, and compelling grant proposals, ensuring they meet the requirements of the funding organization.
  • Prepare budgets and financial documentation to support grant proposals.
  • Manage the grant application process, including submission, follow-ups, and reporting requirements ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with funding organizations, donors, and partners.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and grant funding opportunities.
  • Prepare progress reports and updates for existing grants, ensuring compliance with grant agreements.
  • Assist in developing marketing materials and collateral related to fundraising initiatives.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of grants, submissions, and responses for reference and reporting.

  • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and extract necessary information for grant applications.
  • Familiarity with various types of grants, including government, foundation, and corporate grants.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with donors and funding organizations.
  • Knowledge of budgeting principles related to grant applications.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in grant research and writing efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in grant writing and fundraising for nonprofit organizations or similar entities.
  • Strong research, writing, and editing skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to translate technical information into clear, concise, and compelling proposals.
  • Knowledge of various grant funding sources and application processes.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite and grant management software.
  • Knowledge of the nonprofit sector, social impact, and technology-related initiatives.
