Job Description
Planning and Operations:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the farm, including crop cultivation, livestock care, and equipment maintenance.
- Develop and implement strategies for planting, harvesting, irrigation, pest control, and fertilization.
- Manage budgets, and expenses, and ensure efficient resource utilization.
Personnel Management:
- Supervise and coordinate the work of farm workers, assigning tasks and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Recruit, train, and evaluate staff, maintaining a productive and motivated workforce.
Crop and Livestock Management:
- Monitor crop and animal health, implementing measures to prevent diseases and optimize yield.
- Maintain records related to crop rotation, breeding schedules, inventory, and production.
Equipment and Facility Maintenance:
- Oversee maintenance and repair of farm machinery, tools, and infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Marketing and Administration:
- Coordinate sales of farm products, negotiate contracts, and manage inventory.
- Handle administrative tasks such as record-keeping, financial reporting, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, or related field; advanced degree or specialized certifications may be beneficial.
- 7 – 17 years work experience.
- Previous experience in farm management or related agricultural roles.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and managerial abilities.
- Proficiency in farm operations, including crop production, animal husbandry, and machinery use.
- Knowledge of agricultural techniques, trends, and best practices.
- Financial management and budgeting skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Physical stamina and capability to perform manual labor as needed.
Adaptability and Problem-Solving:
- Ability to adapt to changing agricultural conditions and market demands.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address issues related to crops, livestock, or equipment.
