HSE Officer
Job Summary:
- Ensure full compliance with company HSE policies, ISO standards, and industry best practices across all projects.
- Assist the HSE Manager in establishing a corporate HSE system that aligns with ISO standards and meets local and international regulations, focusing on LPG sphere projects.
Responsibilities/Requirements:
- Ensure the prevention, reporting, and implementation of corrective measures for all accidents within the organization and provide support for accident investigations.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with good housekeeping practices on-site and ensure adherence to Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)/ Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and Permit to Work (PTW) procedures
- Perform regular site inspections to prevent environmental incidents and product leaks, such as spills, indiscriminate venting, and run-offs
- Conduct daily inspections of the tank farm, pump shed, and gantry areas and report any leakages to the Supervisor.
- Drive compliance and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at the site
- Collect and analyze Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for safe handling of products and chemicals within the terminal.
- Conduct and ensure daily HSE Toolbox talks or as required.
- Perform site inspections of all emergency response equipment, including fire extinguishers, first aid boxes, water hydrants, and hoses.
- Ensure that contractors actively participate in Emergency Response Plans, including drills for fire, medical evacuation, spill response, etc.
- Assist in conducting HSE induction for contractors and visitors to the project site
- Drive compliance and facilitate the improvement of safety reporting, including observations, hazards, and incidents.
- Respond promptly to all emergency issues and report near misses, unsafe acts/conditions, and accidents, ensuring follow-up for closure.
- Conduct site inspections on emergency response equipment, such as fire extinguishers, first aid boxes, water hydrants, and hoses.
Requirements:
- Minimum of B.Sc. Second Class Honours (Upper Division)/ HND Upper Credit in Engineering, Sciences or related field
- HSE Certifications – HSE level 1.2 & 3, MISTDO, Basic Fire Fighting, Work at height
- OSHA Certification
- Minimum of five (5) years working experience in the Safety and/or Environment role in the Oil & Gas or Construction Industry
- Industry Experience is an added Advantage
- Must Reside in Port Harcourt
