Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Laboratory Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our hospital’s laboratory. The Laboratory Manager will be responsible for managing the laboratory staff, ensuring the efficient functioning of laboratory equipment, and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations and quality standards. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our healthcare professionals in delivering accurate and timely diagnostic services.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Operations
- Supervise and coordinate the work of laboratory staff, including technologists, technicians, and assistants.
- Oversee the collection, processing, and analysis of various laboratory samples.
- Ensure the laboratory operates efficiently and meets quality and safety standards.
Quality Control and Compliance:
- Develop, implement, and maintain laboratory policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and accreditation standards.
- Monitor and maintain quality control and quality assurance programs.
- Address any non-conformities or deviations promptly.
Equipment and Inventory Management:
- Manage the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Maintain an inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents, ensuring their availability.
- Initiate equipment procurement when necessary.
Personnel Management:
- Recruit, train, and mentor laboratory staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Budget and Resource Allocation
- Assist in budget planning and allocation for the laboratory.
- Monitor expenditures and make cost-effective decisions.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory test results and reports.
- Prepare and submit regular reports to the Director of Laboratory Services.
Emergency Response:
- Develop and implement emergency response procedures in case of equipment failures or other critical incidents.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) required.
- Minimum of [5-6] years of experience in a clinical laboratory, with [3] years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in laboratory information systems and related software.
