Job Summary:

• We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our client who is within the Advertising, Content, and Media Production industry.
• This is a full-time, on-site role located in Lagos for a Legal Adviser and Compliance/Regulatory Executive with our client.
• The selected hire will be responsible for developing, overseeing, and managing regulatory compliance, licensing, and legal activities for our client.
• They will work closely with key stakeholders and business units to ensure processes, policies, and procedures meet legal requirements and assist in the management and resolution of any legal issues.

Responsibilities:

What You Would Do

• Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of legal matters to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and legal correspondence.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to stay abreast of changes in legislation and provide proactive recommendations to mitigate legal risks.
• Advise on intellectual property matters, including trademark and copyright issues, and assist in managing the company’s intellectual property portfolio.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including executives and department heads, to assess legal risks and develop strategies for risk mitigation.
• Assist in resolving legal disputes, including participating in negotiations, mediation, and, when necessary, coordinating with external legal counsel for litigation matters.
• Ensure legal compliance by regularly reviewing and updating company policies, procedures, and practices.
• Provide legal support in corporate governance matters, including overseeing corporate filings, maintaining corporate records, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments in relevant laws and regulations to provide proactive legal advice and recommendations.
• Collaborate with external legal counsel, as needed, to ensure effective legal representation and support.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• What You Would Need
• Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B) from a recognized institution. A Master’s degree in Law (LL.M) or MBA is an added advantage
• Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 5 years of experience in legal compliance management and/or risk management.
• Sound knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and legal procedures.
• Familiarity with applicable regulatory and legal obligations, including employment law.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with experience in reviewing and preparing legal documents.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills, including the ability to coordinate projects. Able to take end-to-end responsibility.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proactive and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to identify and mitigate legal risks. Excellent knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements for a TV network, content, and media production company.
• Familiarity with the media and entertainment industry or sector is an added advantage.
• Excellent interpersonal and management skills, with the ability to develop productive relationships with internal teams and external partners.
