Subsea Structural Engineer
Job Summary
- Perform all the assigned Subsea Mechanical and Structural technical activities within a project assuring also interfaces with the other people involved in the project for the area of competence.
Main Responsibilities
- Review Client’s technical documentation and requirements
- Maintain project technical files and update client’s standards
- Control of subcontracted discipline engineering documents
- Perform the engineering activities related to the assigned scope of work within the project
- Ensure the timely availability of the project documents and the implementation of the comments received by the Client
- Ensure the implementation of the project design changes. Give the subsea engineering lead the information relevant to the work progress for the preparation of the project control reports
- Cooperate in the preparation of the operative procedures for the integration and testing of the whole electrical chain with the other equipment of the system
- Cooperate with other specialists for the evaluation of the system performance
- Cooperate in the preparation of specifications for subsea electrical chain components installation, testing, and maintenance.
- Prepare and issue the final updating of the technical documents for material purchasing
- Prepare evaluation notes relevant to technical proposals received by suppliers
- Prepare evaluation reports relevant to tests performed by suppliers both during the qualification and construction phases
- Assist the subsea engineering leader or the project engineering manager in solving technical problems arising during project development and interfacing/supporting the client’s procurement department
- Prepare the section on the competence of the final reports
- Support the subsea engineering leader in the preparation of project schedules and manhours evaluation
- Participate in the suppliers’ qualification process
- Cooperate with the subsea engineering leader to support the procurement and fabrication activities
Knowledge and Skills / Requirements
- Engineering design activities – Knowledge of Discipline engineering design criteria.
- Engineering standard codes and regulations – Knowledge of main international Discipline standards, codes and regulations
- Quantity estimation for engineering disciplines – Ability to define the Project’s general rules and guidelines for Discipline quantities estimation
- Engineering project documents Mgt – Ability to analyze engineering documents (e.g. Instruction to Tender.
- Engineering reporting techniques – Ability to monitor and control the engineering progress and schedule
- 2D and 3D modelling – Knowledge required
- Engineering technical software tools – User-level knowledge is required.
- P and IDs mechanization – Ability to design and coordinate P&IDs for related systems
- Engineering equipment testing – Ability to define technical requirements
- Engineering Material Testing – Ability to define technical requirements
- Material engineering – Knowledge required.
- Mechanical Engineering – Knowledge required.
- Piping engineering design – Basic knowledge required.
- Subsea structure & piping design – Ability to design subsea structures e.g. configuration, construction drawings, structural and piping analysis, fabrication specification, and supervision.
- Tie-in Design – Ability to perform tie-in design and relevant simulation analysis.
Qualifications
- B.Sc./B.Eng./B.Tech./HND Civil/Structural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 10 years experience in the Oil and Gas Industry
