Team Lead, Light Vehicle Mechanic
Job Summary
- The Lead Light Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a variety of light vehicles, including cars, buses, and light trucks.
- This role also involves leading and mentoring a small team of mechanics, ensuring high-quality workmanship and efficient workflow within the workshop.
- The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, excellent leadership abilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults in light vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical systems, and HVAC systems.
- Perform routine maintenance services, such as oil changes, filter replacements, tire rotations, and brake inspections, according to manufacturer specifications.
- Supervise and mentor a small team of mechanics, providing guidance, training, and support. Delegate tasks effectively and monitor team performance.
- Ensure all work is performed to a high standard of quality and adheres to safety regulations and company procedures. Conduct final inspections of completed work.
- Utilize diagnostic equipment and technical manuals to identify and resolve complex vehicle issues.
- Work hand-in-hand with Supply Chain for ordering and managing parts inventory, ensuring availability of necessary components.
- Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including diagnoses, repairs, and parts used.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques. Participate in training and development opportunities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience as a Light Vehicle Mechanic, with a minimum of 7 years of experience.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of light vehicle systems and components.
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment and technical manuals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience with a variety of vehicle makes and models.
